LAKE COMO - the most beautiful setting of all the Italian Alpine lakes.  Mountains slope steeply down to the beautiful blue water ringed by gardens, woods and villas, its atmospheric effects provide for impressionistic painting.  Base for Janet & Steve’s workshop will be the Hotel Villa Cipressi, Varenna, on the eastern shore of the lake.  A beautiful, historical hotel, set in century-old gardens with tiered terraces down to the lake.  In addition to the many painting spots in and around Varenna, you will also visit other small towns accessed by boat for a variety of scenes to paint.  A walking tour of nearby Bellagio is also included.

Janet and Steve Rogers met at a Robert E. Wood watercolor workshop in 1984 - their watercolor world hasn't been the same since!

Janet, a signature member of AWS, has won numerous awards for her watercolors. Well known for her sensitive portraits and expressive floral paintings, and a popular workshop instructor she demonstrates for events, including Epcot’s International Flower & Garden Festival. 

Steve has made a career of painting since 1975. He is a signature member of AWS, NWS and FWS. His paintings were included in six of the last ten American Watercolor Society International Exhibitions and he received awards in four of these. He won the 2006  NWS Best of Show Purchase Award with Silver Star
